the studio for the creative urge in everyone

Welcome to Art Spark Studio, LLC

we are moving to Rotterdam - there will be no more classes after March 2007 -
Thanks for all your support!!
I have loved teaching you all!
Hello!
My name is Charity O’Neill and I am the director of Art Spark Studio. I am very excited to introduce to you Art Spark studio, founded in the spring of 2001. As always, classes have developed to bring the power of art to those that want to learn. Art Spark provides the “Umph!” that helps people to create art and everything else!!!
Throughout my life, I have used art to develop and promote my own growth. As a beginning artist, I attended classes similar to Art Spark. As a teen, I was awarded a scholarship to Moore College (PA) for summer classes. As an undergraduate at Temple University, I exhibited in numerous art shows (which included solo exhibits.) I also spent a semester studying in Rome, Italy. In Rome, I continued to exhibit in galleries, and gained a deep understanding of art history.
Upon graduation from Temple, I attended graduate school at New York University. During my studies, and immediately after receiving my Masters in Art Therapy, I worked in many challenging yet rewarding environments and received my ATR.

After a few years in the city, my husband and I moved to New Jersey. As certified teachers we love learning environments.
I have my PA and NJ certifications in Art Education. I have taught all over the tri-state area. However, my dream has always been to create a home that promotes creative sparks and enables both children and adults to pursue their artistic inclinations! Everyone has a bit of artist in them; they just need to spark it!

  • CLASSES
Class size is limited to 7 students. Every student receives specialized attention. Classes are currently scheduled for students aged 3-18 and adults. Classes offer a mixture of materials, i.e. Painting, sculpture, drawing, etc. This combination helps to expose you to many methods and techniques with each material. It is never good to limit yourself, especially with young children!!! The cost of the classes includes all of the materials, so you don’t have to worry about the expense of the different supplies.

As always, we recommend early registration because classes do fill quickly!!!

  • CERAMIC CLASSES ARE NOW BEING OFFERED
different forms: pastel, watercolor, oil, charcoal etc. One medium our students seem to love, however, is sculpture. Students enjoy constructing works using three dimensions.
Because of the many requests by our students, Art Spark now has a kiln. This “art oven” allows clay sculptures to be fired, thereby hardening them in a way that air cannot. When a colorful glaze is added, the results are wonderful. (You may have noticed some of Charity’s brother’s pieces in our studio).
Beginning this Fall, a ceramic component will be added to some classes. By November, classes dealing entirely with ceramics will be offered. Due to the expected popularity of these classes, we recommend that you sign up as early as possible.
As always, our regular classes will continue to provide a broad array of mediums and styles (that means you will be doing some ceramics in these classes too).

  • ART SPARK NOW RUNS ON THE SUN

You may have noticed the two foot trench running into the studio. That trench contains an electric cable running to solar panels in our fields.
Sun Farm Networks has constructed a solar panel field which will provide more than 90% of the electricity in our home. This method of power is environmentally friendly and actually saves money!!
If you are interested in learning more about this method of power generation, pick up a brochure or ask Patrick for more details. OR CONTACT

  • ART SPARK READS WITH LOCAL LIBRARIES
Reading is a fundamental skill that often loses out to television and video games. In an effort to reverse this trend, Art Spark has teamed up with local libraries to encourage reading among children. Children who illustrate a book they have read are eligible for prizes courtesy of Art Spark. For more details, see Charity or visit the NE Branch, Hackettstown, Franklin or Catherine Dickson Hofman libraries.
